OIC states call for overhauling education in Islamic countries

RABAT, Dec 20 (KUNA) -- Member states of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) have called for effective reforms of the educational sectors in these countries.
Ministers in charge of higher education and scientific research of the OIC countries called, at conclusion of their seventh meeting here late on Friday, urged the Islamic countries to take a host of measures to shore up their economies, encourage scientific research and boost knowledge.
They also called for encouraging innovation and creativity, for stimulating productivity in addition to granting a greater role to the private sector in overall development schemes.
Moreover, they urged for establishing an Islamic academy for young scientists and boosting scientific and technological coordination among the member states.
The conferees, during the meeting that was hosted by the OIC Islamic Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (ISESCO), adopted a draft program to overhaul the whole higher educational systems in the OIC countries.
Kuwait was represented at the conference by Minister of Education and Higher Education Dr. Bader Al-Issa. (end) adt.rk
