ROME, Nov 21 (KUNA) -- Kuwait's Minister of Health Dr. Ali Al-Obeidi discussed on Friday with Giuseppe Novelli, president of the University of Rome Tor Vergata, avenues of cooperation in the treatment of diseases prevalent in the Kuwaiti society. Heading a Kuwaiti delegation from his ministry and accompanied by Kuwait's ambassador to Italy Sheikh Ali Al-Khalid Al-Sabah, Dr. Al-Obeidi met with the staff of the medical college at the university and with the staff of the hospital run by the university and learned first hand about the way patients are treated from many serious diseases, including diabetes and hereditary ailments.
Professor Novelli told KUNA the university and its hospital were ready to receive Kuwaiti patients who might seek treatment there, noting that there were already nine Kuwaitis getting treatment for bone marrow transplantation in the university hospital. The Kuwaiti minister and the delegation with him met the nine patients.
The Kuwaiti ambassador applauded the visit here by the minister and said it was a further sign of firm ties between Kuwait and Italy which mark 50 years of diplomatic relations between them. (end) mn.ajs
