CAIRO, Oct 26 (KUNA) -- Arab League Secretary General Nabil Al-Araby on Sunday called for concerted efforts to restore Arab archives seized by colonial states during the pre-independence period.
In a ceremony organized by the Arab League to mark the Arab Documents Day, Al-Araby said that many Arab countries, especially Palestine, Algeria, Iraq and Libya are struggling to restore their national and cultural archive.
He noted that the Israeli occupation forces have stolen over 80,000 Palestinian books and manuscripts after occupying the Palestine.
Al-Araby expressed serious concerns about the misuse of the seized documents to distort Arab and Islamic history and heritage.
The Arab League chief lauded the great role played by Arab and non-Arab organizations to help bring back the Arab documents and archives in many former colonial countries. (end) mfm.aff.asm.ibi
