Malaysia keen on bolstering commercial ties with Kuwait -- FM

By Mohammad Al-Mula and Abdullah Bogis KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 21 (KUNA) -- Malaysia is keen on bolstering commercial ties with Kuwait and will look forward to the signing of any accord in such regards, Foreign Minister Anifah Aman said here Tuesday.
In an exclusive interview with KUNA, Aman said that Kuwait is one of Malaysia's most "important" commercial partners, indicating that since the establishment of diplomatic ties in 1974, the two countries have signed various agreements within the diplomatic, economic, cultural, scientific, and investment fields.
The Malaysian Minister hoped that the two nations would sign a commercial accord soon, noting that there were preliminary negotiations on this matter.
In regards to the two countries' stance on international issues, Aman said that both Malaysia and Kuwait were eager to coordinate efforts on the international arena especially within the UN, the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), and The Non-Aligned Movement (NAM).
The two countries also have similar views on issues such as the Palestinian cause, said the minister, hoping that the Palestinians would gain their right for a sovereign state. (end) mam.abu.gta
