KUWAIT, Oct 13 (KUNA) -- The cabinet held Monday its weekly meeting at Seif Palace, under the chairmanship of His Highness the Prime Minister Sheikh Jaber Mubarak Al-Hamad Al-Sabah.
Following the meeting, Minister of Cabinet Affairs and Acting Minister of Justice Mohammad Abdullah Al-Mubarak Al-Sabah made a statement on the meeting's deliberations and outcome.
In his statement, Sheikh Mohammad stated that the ministers, at the beginning of their meeting, reviewed a letter addressed to His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah from King of Bhutan Jigme Singye Wangchuck including an official invitation to visit the Kingdom of Bhutan.
They also reviewed a letter addressed to His Highness the Amir from Ethiopian Prime Minister Hailemariam Desalegn which focused on bilateral relations and means to bolster them.
During the meeting, His Highness the Prime Minister briefed the cabinet on the outcome of his recent visits to Italy and Germany. He apprised the cabinet of his visit to the United States to partake in the 69th session of the UN General Assembly and his speech at the session to clarify Kuwait's stance of latest development in the regional and world.
His Highness the Prime Minister informed the ministers about the talks he held with world leaders on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly meeting.
Then, the First Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Sheikh Sabah Khaled Al-Hamad Al-Sabah acquainted the cabinet with the outcome of his participation in Cairo International Conference on Palestine - Reconstructing Gaza, in which Kuwait pledged USD 200 million in aid to war-torn Gaza Strip over the coming three years.
For his part, Deputy Prime Minister, Interior Minister and Acting Minister of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs Sheikh Mohammad Khaled Al-Hamad Al-Sabah informed the cabinet about his participation in a recent Saudi Arabia-hosted meeting for interior ministers of the Gulf Cooperation Council member states to enhance pan-GCC security cooperation and coordination.
On the occasion of the conclusion of Hajj season, the cabinet congratulated the Saudi King and government on the successes of the season. It also lauded the huge efforts exerted by Saudi authorities to take care of the pilgrims and facilitate their spiritual journey to holy sites in Saudi Arabia.
The cabinet touched upon the latest political developments in the Arab region and the world. (end) ibi
