Death toll of twin explosions in Homs rises to 39, including 30 children

AMMAN, Oct 1 (KUNA) -- The death toll of Wednesday's twin suicide explosions in Homs, central Syria, has increased to 39 civilians, including 30 children under the age of 12, the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights (SOHR) said.
It is also reported that five individuals from the investigative squad, which came to the area following the first explosion, were killed, SOHR said in a statement, adding that the number of casualties is likely to rise due to a number of critical wounds among the injured.
Earlier, a car bomb was blown up in front of the New Ikrima School, and only a few minutes later a suicide bomber blew himself up in front of Ikrima Al-Makhzoumi School, the state-run SANA news agency reported, noting that the explosions took place at the time when students were leaving school with the apparent aim to inflict maximum casualties.
The car bomb was made up of three gas cylinders, each packed with seven kilos of C4 explosives, SANA added. (pickup previous) tk.ma
