Turkey expels some 1,000 foreigners who were set to fight in Syria - FM

ISTANBUL, Sept 22 (KUNA) -- Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu said Tuesday that his country expelled around 1,000 foreign travellers, who were said to have been on their way to fight in Syria, according to local reports.
In his speech on terrorism on the sidelines of the meetings of the United Nations General Assembly in New York, Cavusoglu said that Turkey has heavy burdens on that matter as it monitors the entry of foreign fighters into its territories.
In a related context, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said that his country is looking positively to participating in the international coalition's currently-held attacks on Islamic State (ISIL) jihadists in Syria. (end) ta.hm
