KUWAIT, Sept 23 (KUNA) -- Technical Committee of the GCC news agencies began its ninth meeting here on Tuesday to discuss a host of issues concerning technical and engineering sectors of the regional states' media networks.
Agenda of the meeting, due to proceed till Wednesday includes discussions of a GCC Secretariat-General's memorandum and recommendations of the commission's eight meeting. Conferees also tackle a proposal by the UAE news agency, WAM, affirming that staff must be guided to make use of data and expertise, provided by electronic social media.
WAM also proposes holding workshops to discuss work sustainability by each of the GCC networks, means of boosting inter-GCC cooperation at this level and providing electronic applications on smart phones.
Bahrain's news agency, for its part, recommends setting up a joint GCC news agencies' website, while the Saudi Press Agency (SPA) suggests ideas with respect of exchanging photos.
The committee will submit recommendations to the 18th meeting of the GCC news agencies' chiefs, due here on Wednesday and Thursday.
The meeting of the top leaders of the GCC news agencies will be patronized and attended by Minister of Information and Minister of State for Youth Affairs Sheikh Salman Sabah Al-Salem Al-Humoud Al-Sabah. It tackles a host of issues namely plans to upgrade the GCC media services. (end) mdm.tb.rk
