SARAJEVO, Sept 15 (KUNA) -- Kuwait's Embassy in Albania has officially inaugurated a state-funded female students' residence in Tirana.
The initiative, which was made possible thank to efforts of local Kuwaiti charities, is part of plans to improve the educational infrastructure in Albania, Ambassador Najib Al-Bader said in a speech at the inauguration.
The move also reflects the depth of bilateral ties between both countries, he said, adding in comments to KUNA that it reflects the humanitarian role assumed by Kuwait under the leadership of His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah.
Kuwait makes massive contributions on the humanitarian scale without regard for race, creed, faith or ethnicity, he said, and the initiative coincides with the UN decision to label His Highness a humanitarian leader and Kuwait a humanitarian centre.
The residence, complete with all necessary facilities in addition to study halls, represents a positive contribution and a valuable addition to the projects assumed by Kuwaiti charities, and this illustrates the Kuwaiti people's commitment to assisting nations around the world, he said.
He hoped the residence, which can accommodate up to 65 people, would provide the appropriate environment for education and would do much to further relations between the two countries. (end) aa.sd
