Argentine urges Arab League to support Resolution on Sovereign Debt Restructuring

CAIRO, Sept 14 (KUNA) -- Argentine's visiting Foreign Minister Hector Timerman on Sunday called on the Arab League to support Resolution on Sovereign Debt Restructuring that his country had submitted to the UN General Assembly.
This came during his talks with Arab League Secretary General Nabil Al-Araby on mutual ties in addition to a host of regional and international issues, including the latest development in Palestine and the conflict on Falkland Islands.
"The Arab League responded to Argentine's call," Ambassador Ibrahim Mohieldeen, Arab League's Director of American Department, said in a statement, adding that he urged Arab countries to support that resolution.
Al-Araby and Timerman expressed satisfaction with mutual relations and coordination toward many issues of common concern, he added.
Concerning Argentine-UK dispute over Falkland Islands, Mohieldeen said that Arab countries call on both parties to find out a political settlement for that conflict.
Al-Araby discussed with Timerman international and Arab efforts to combat terrorism caused by the Islamic State in Iraq and the Levant (ISIL) in Iraq and Syria in the framework of the last resolution by the Arab League, Mohieldeen pointed out.
"Timerman stressed his country's support to Palestinians to establish an independent state," he said, adding Al-Araby lauded stances of states of South America that support Palestinian issue.
Mohieldeen underlined the importance of the Latin-Arab Summit, which would be held in Saudi city of Riyadh on March, 2015.
Egyptian President Abdelfatah Al-Sisi met with Timerman on Saturday, discussing the Latin-Arab relations and a host of international and regional issues. (end) mfm.aff.am.hm
