European Parliament to debate situation in Iraq, Syria

BRUSSELS, Sept 14 (KUNA) -- The European Parliament will hold its first full session after the summer recess in the French city of Strasbourg from Monday till Thursday.
On-going conflicts in Syria, Iraq, Libya, and Gaza will feature prominently in a debate on Wednesday, followed by resolutions on Thursday, according to the EP agenda.
On Monday, the EP will debate the impact of the Russian import embargo on EU fruit and vegetables, dairy and meat products. EU farm produce exports to Russia were worth 11.9 billion euro in 2013.
On Tuesday, the EU Parliament will debate developments in Ukraine and EU relations with Russia, and on Wednesday it will also debate the EU response to the fast-spreading Ebola epidemic in West Africa.
Meanwhile, on Tuesday, the EP President Martin Schulz will meet the new Turkish Minister for EU Affairs Volkan Bozkir and later Syrian Catholic Archbishop of Mosul Basile Casmoussa. (end) nk.tg
