Nuclear talks must ensure removal of sanctions on Iran -- Spokesperson

TEHRAN, Aug 20 (KUNA) -- Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Marziyeh Afkham said on Wednesday the Iranian negotiators in the nuclear talks with the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) and the P5+1 seek to lift all sanctions against the country.
The talks to reach a comprehensive agreement with the P5+1 proceed on the right track, IRNA news agency cited Afkham as saying at her weekly press briefing here.
She said the next round of talks between Iran and the six world powers (US, Britain, France, Russia and China plus Germany) will be held in New York, early September on the sidelines of the 69th Session of the UN General Assembly (UNGA).
Noting that Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif and the European Union foreign policy chief Catherine Ashton are also to meet in early September, Afkham said the time or venue of the meeting have not been determined yet.
Afkham added that negotiations with other members of the P5+1 are underway through their embassies in Tehran to hold bilateral meetings after finalizing preliminary discussions.
"If necessary, expert groups will hold talks before the UNGA," the spokesperson added.
She commended as constructive the outcome of the visit of IAEA Director General Yukiya Amano to Iran on August 17, adding that a number of EU foreign ministers will be visiting Tehran soon. (end) mw.gb
