KUWAIT, Aug 18 (KUNA) -- A 5.0 magnitude quake on the Richter scale jolted the Iraqi-Iranian borders and was felt by Kuwait on Monday.
Kuwait Institute for Scientific Research (KISR) said the tremor's epicenter was some 590 kilometers north of Kuwait.Director for Environmental Crises and Supervisor of the National Seismic Network at KISR Dr. Abdullah Al-Enizi told KUNA the network detected the quake on a depth of 10 kilometers, centered in the Zagros mountain range, which is a seismically-active region.
Dr. Al-Enizi added the quake was registered at 7:50 a.m. Kuwait local time.(end)
