Pakistan lodges protest with Afghanistan over cross-border terrorist attack

ISLAMABAD, July 30 (KUNA) -- Pakistan on Wednesday has lodged a strong protest with Afghanistan over another attack launched by terrorists from across the border, said Foreign Office.
A press release by Pakistan Foreign Office said, "Between 70-80 terrorists were involved in the cross-border attack on Pakistan military post in Upper Dir (between Tripaman and Inkal Sar) last night. At least seven terrorists were killed and 9 injured as the attack was successfully repulsed by the Pakistan military." The Afghan Charge d' Affaires was called to the Foreign Office and a strong protest was lodged.
The Afghan authorities were, once again, urged to take effective steps to stop the use of Afghan territory for repeated cross-border fire and physical attacks by terrorists, said Foreign Office.
It was emphasized again that at a time when Pakistan is undertaking a monumental effort against terrorists and their hideouts through the launch of Operation Zarb-e-Azb in its northern tribal region.
Pakistan would also be taking up this matter with the Afghan Government at a higher level in the broader context of enhancing security along the Pakistan-Afghanistan border, the release added. (end) sbk.ibi
