Iran's Khamenei urges Muslims to rush aid to Gaza

TEHRAN July 29 (KUNA) -- The Supreme Leader of Islamic Revolution in Iran Ayatollah Ali Khamenei on Tuesday called on all Muslims to rush aid to the Palestinian people in Gaza.
Khamenei was addressing hundreds of officials and ambassadors and charge d?affairs of Muslim countries in Iran on the occasion of Eid Al-Fitr today when he urged Muslim governments to set aside political and non-political differences "to help the oppressed in Gaza".
"Setting aside differences, the world of Islam should use all its potential to meet needs of the people of Gaza and while countering impudent crimes of Zionists, Muslim world should voice hatred and disavow of Zionist allies, especially the US and the UK," he said. "Unfortunately, contrary to Islamic injunctions, today political and power mongering motivations have divided Muslim Ummah (nation)," Khamenei was quoted by the Islamic Republic News Agency (IRNA) as saying.
The Supreme Leader said,"?Our clear message to Muslim governments is to rise up to assist the oppressed people and show that the world of Islam will not keep silent in face of tyranny and injustice." Referring to the pressing need of the people of Gaza to food, water, medicine, hospital facilities and reconstruction of houses, the Supreme Leader said "the nation needs arms also to defend itself".
Prior to the Supreme Leader's speech President Hassan Rouhani addressed the audience. Rouhani referred to Gaza events and "merciless massacre of the oppressed people of Gaza by the criminal Zionists." "Such events are outspoken instances of crimes against humanity and all international institutions and organizations, claiming human rights and mankind, should prepare the atmosphere and courts for trial of the criminals", he said.
"In the world of Islam we are witnessing two swollen cists, which have always been annoying Palestinians and Muslims. The cists are now ruptured and put the land of olive in blood, " he said.
He noted that "Iran's strategy worldwide is peace and justice and in the world of Islam being unity". (end) mw.msa
