BRUSSELS, July 29 (KUNA) -- The Federation of Islamic Organisations in Europe (FIOE) Tuesday condemned the Israeli atrocities in Gaza and underlined its support for the Palestinian people.
"This year's Eid-ul-Fitr comes at a moment when the Muslim Ummah is suffering difficult times; with many crises and open wounds," said Abdullah Benmansour, FIOE President in a statement.
"Eid arrives as we witness a hideous military onslaught upon the Palestinian people, with Gaza bombarded round the clock with tonnes of explosive ordnance, and the number of those killed (surpasses) a thousand, and massive numbers of injured. In this Eid, we renew our solidarity with the Palestinian people at this precarious moment, and reiterate our support for their legitimate rights," stressed the statement.
The Brussels-based FIOE is considered to be an umbrella organisation for hundreds of Islamic bodies and organisations in Europe. (end)
