TEHRAN, July 22 (KUNA) -- Member states of Inter-Parliamentary Union of the Organization of the Islamic Cooperation (OIC), meeting here in an emergency conference, should consecrate maximum efforts, regionally and internationally, to stop the Israeli attacks on the Palestinian people in Gaza, said a Kuwaiti lawmaker on Tuesday.
In a speech at the conference, head of the Kuwaiti delegation of lawmakers to it, MP Faisal Al-Shayea, said the member states should exert pressure on the UN security council and the Mideast peace quartet to make Israel accountable for its outlandish actions in Gaza and in the occupied Palestinian terrorities altogether, including the imperative that Israel halt the building of settlements, accept the land-for-peace formula and the essence of the Arab peace initiative.
He decried the unequitable and skewed confrontation between the might of the Israeli army and an unarmed Palestinian populace unequipped to engage in a fight where there is parity between adversaries.
He urged the member states to continue supporting the Palestinian cause and to implement the resolutions reached at the IPU emergency meeting on Gaza which took place lately in Cairo.
Besides MP Faisal Al-Shayea, the Kuwaiti delegation to the conference included also MPs Saleh Ashour and Saif Al-Azmi. (pickup previous) mw.ajs
