Iran parliament speaker says Israel suffers from "political stress"
TEHRAN, July 22 (KUNA) -- Iran's Majlis (parliament) Speaker Ali Larijani said here on Tuesday that the current circumstances caused by the brutal "Zionist" aggression on the Gaza Strip are very sensitive.
Addressing an emergency meeting of Inter-Parliamentary Union of the Organization of the Islamic Cooperation (OIC) in Tehran, Larijani said the Zionist regime that faced successive military defeats in the past decade is suffering from political distress.
The Zionist regime committed crimes against humanity and war crimes by slaughtering the defenseless Palestinian people during the Muslim fasting month of Ramadan, he regretted.
The disproportionate bombardment of the civilian targets in Gaza from the air, land and the sea account for genocide and ethnic cleansing that run counter to international law, the Iranian speaker pointed out.
He said that the Israeli leaders must understand that Israel is an occupying entity and that the war crimes cannot help them survive.
However, Larijani lashed out at the US and European countries for winking at Zionist crimes against Palestinians and for supporting this "criminal entity", believing that the US and its allies are not aware of the strength of the Palestinian resistance groups and they even try to tarnish their reputation.
He urged all parliament speakers and parliamentary delegations to adopt a unified stand to defend the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people. (end) mw.mt
