35 Iraqis killed, dozens injured in series of blasts around Baghdad

BAGHDAD, July 19 (KUNA) -- Thirty five people were killed and 86 injured in a series of car explosions targeting the Iraqi capital, police said Saturday.
A police source said an improvised car vehicle exploded at a checkpoint in Abu Dshir in Al-Doura neighborhood killing 10 people and injuring 22 others, including four nearby vehicles.
Earlier, at least eight people were killed and 12 injured in a booby-trapped vehicle blast in Abu Dshir area south of Baghdad.
Before the explosion a series bomb blasts occurred in one hour in Al-Kadhimiya, Baya'a, and Al-Saidia.
A security source added that nine Iraqis were killed and 18 injured in a car explosion in Eden area of northern Al-Kadhimiya town.
The explosion caused seven other vehicles to burnout near the area.
Meanwhile, police found eight unidentified bodies, three of them their eyes were sealed, in various parts of Baghdad, all were shot in the head and chest.
Iraq is witnessing a deteriorating security situation in Salahuddin, Diyala, and Anbar provinces, forty days after the fall of Mosul to the hand of armed men. (end) mhg.mb
