TUNIS, June 12 (KUNA) -- Arab traffic chiefs called here on Thursday on Arab governments to ponder over the causes of motorists' traffic misbehaviors before finding remedy mechanisms.
The call came in a final communique issued following the conclusion of the 15th conference of Arab traffic chiefs here on Thursday.
Public awareness campaigns should be launched in the field of traffic safety, in collaboration with mass media and civil society organizations, according to the communique.
Internet and social communication networks ought to be utilized to ensure a successful public campaign, the conferees recommended, while urging Arab traffic administrations to have social networking pages in order to deliver messages to the public in a fast and reliable way.
They underscored the significance of exchanging visits among Arab traffic personnel in order to promote and bolster loyalty and belonging among Arab nations and to share experience in the field of road safety.
They also called for training traffic personnel in Arab countries to acquire psychological skills that boost their ability to positively deal with road users with a view to promoting the favorable image of traffic personnel, according to the statement. (end)
