France urges Thai authorities to place "accurate" timetable for elections

PARIS, May 16 (KUNA) -- France called on Thai authorities Friday to put "an accurate timetable" for holding general elections in a drive to end the political crisis in the Asian country.
Foreign Ministry spokesman Romain Nadal, at a press briefing, said France was deeply concerned over the recent developments in Thailand, during which three people were killed and 24 others were injured in an attack against an anti-government protest in Bangkok.
"France reiterates the importance of a solution for the political crisis, through dialogue and respect of democratic principles and institutions," he said.
Thai police said unknown attackers used M16 machine guns and M79 rockets in their assault against the anti-government protest. (end) amm.bs
