KUWAIT, April 19 (KUNA) -- A 30,000-square-meter open field for Arabian horses beauty contests will be built upon directives of His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Kuwait State Stud (Bait Al-Arab) Mohammad Jassem Al-Marzouq said Saturday.
The project, to be constructed in Sabhan area, would cost KD 1.065 million (USD 3.78 million) and comes as completion of previous endorsement by His Highness; pledged to rehabilitate and develop the Bait Al-Arab, or Arabian Horse Center by March 2015, Al-Marzouq noted, pointing out that after it's done, the new project would have the capacity to accommodate and host local and international contests.
The State Stud is under the Amiri Diwan umbrella since November 2012. Established in 1980, the Stud now houses some 100 of the finest Arabian horses with the main objective to preserve rare breeds through its own breeding program and to maintain excellent representatives of different strains and families.
The stud farm also supports private farms by offering first-class stallions for breeding and acts as a consultant in stud and feed management, training and veterinary matters. (end) tab.hb
