UAE-Iran cmte concludes talks in Abu Dhabi

ABU DHABI, April 15 (KUNA) -- Joint state committee talks between the United Arab Emirates and Iran ended with the signing of a final statement and two memos of understanding in sports and business in Abu Dhabi on Tuesday.
Both the UAE Foreign Minister Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al-Nahyan and his Iranian counterpart, Mohammad Javad Zarif, had held bilateral talks earlier in the day, according to an official statement released by state news agency, WAM.
They also discussed a number of issues, namely regional developments, bilateral relations on the economic and trade spectrums and ways to remove obstacles in the path of their relations, added the statement.
This morning, talks were also held between the Iranian foreign minister and UAE Prime Minister and Vice President, and Dubai Ruler Sheikh Mohammad bin Rashed Al-Maktoum at the office of the latter.
The Dubai Ruler had received an invitation to visit Iran, an offer which he had accepted, according to the statement.
Separately, the Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces Sheikh Mohammad bin Zayed Al-Nahyan and President of Cyprus Nicos Anastasiades both witnessed the signature of three MoUs and a cooperation agreement.
The documents were based on cooperation in transport, higher education, scientific research, energy and tourism. (end) asa.sd
