KUWAIT, April 9 (KUNA) -- His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah sponsored and attended the fifth edition of Kuwait's international Quran memorization and recitation awards at Bayan Palace Theatre on Wednesday.
Upon arrival, His Highness was welcomed by Minister of Justice and Minister of Endowments and Islamic Affairs Dr. Nayef Mohammad Al-Ajmi and Secretary General of Endowments Dr. Abddulmohsin Al-Kharafi.
The ceremony, which was attended by His Highness the Crown Prince Sheikh Nawaf Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, also saw the attendance of former parliament speaker Jassem Al-Kharafi, senior sheikhs, His Highness Sheikh Nasser Al-Mohammad Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah, His Highness the Prime Minister Sheikh Jaber Al-Mubarak Al-Hamad Al-Sabah, Deputy Parliament Speaker Mubarak Al-Khurainij, Deputy Minister of Amiri Diwan Affairs Sheikh Ali Jarrah Al-Sabah and senior state officials.
A documentary on the award's history was displayed after speeches by Minister Al-Ajmi and chairman of the award's judging panel Dr. Abdullah Bin Mohammad Al-Jarallah, during which both thanked His Highness the Amir for sponsoring the event.
Then His Highness the Amir graciously presented the winners with their awards, as well as honoring members of the judging panels. A commemorative gift was presented to His Highness at the conclusion of the ceremony. (end) hb
