ANOC meet in Kuwait on Saturday

KUWAIT, March 28 (KUNA) -- The Association of the National Olympic Committees (ANOC) will meet here tomorrow Saturday under the chairmanship of its president Sheikh Ahmad Al-Fahad Al-Sabah and in the presence of President of the International Olympic Committee (IOC) Thomas Bach and President of the International Judo Federation (IJF) Marius Vizer.
The three-day meeting will gather representatives of ANOC's 204 member National Olympic Committees (NOCs).
The first day agenda features eight separate sessions of ANOC committees and work teams with Sheikh Ahmad presiding over the meetings of the committees on modernization, financing and new funding resources, supervision, legal affairs, international relations, marketing, medical affairs, and athlete affairs.
These committees were formed during the last meeting of ANOC Executive Council, held in Lausanne city, Switzerland, in last December; they aim to promote the international Olympic movement and give momentum to ANOC reforms.
The meeting of the committee on Olympic solidarity aims to assess the activities held between 2009 and 2013 as well as the results of the first year of the plan for 2013-2016 and the budget for FY 2014.
The ANOC committee meetings will culminate on Monday in the 63rd meeting of the Executive Council which will assess the XXII Olympic Winter Games, held in Sochi, Russia, in last February.
It will also discuss the preparations for the ANOC General Assembly session, due in Bangkok, Thailand, and the 2016 Summer Olympics, due in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. (end) fs.gb KUNA 282142 Mar 14NNNN
