MANAMA, March 25 (KUNA) -- Ethical and high technical standards should be
taken up devotedly by those in the broadcasting media in the Gulf region, in
keeping with standards already set worldwide, said Bahraini Minister of
Information Sameera Rajab on Tuesday, speaking at the opening of the 13th Gulf
Radio and TV Festival.
She appreciated the fact that competition in broadcasted programming in the
Gulf region was not any longer among government ministries of information or
even among private sector production companies but has transcended that to the
internet where a lot of websites transmit news and information of all kinds.
The festival is being held under the slogan "Our youth :Future of Our
Media" which Rajab thought was apt since it was incumbent on the youth to lead
the way in revitalizing approaches to information dissemination.
She was also cognizant of the fact that the festival was taking place in her
country which was last year selected to be the capital of Arab information and
this year as the capital of Asian Toursim.
Spanning three days and attended by media professionals from the Gulf
region, the festival will showcase some three hundred works of radio and TV
programming vying for much coveted prizes and recognition. (end)
