KUWAIT, March 20 (KUNA) -- Chairman of the Public Authority for Youth and Sports (PAYS) Sheikh Ahmad Mansour Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah hailed the organisation of the Kuwait International Rally, which kicked off at Sirbb circuit on Thursday.
The Kuwait-held event is considered the second round of the 2014 FIA Middle East Rally Championship (MERC), and Sheikh Ahmad told KUNA that the body he heads fully backs holding regional motorsports events due to their role in elevating the reputation of the country.
With the participation of many nations "comes the immense responsibility of working to present the event in a manner that is appreciated by organizers and drivers," he said.
He pledged gratitude to the local organizers of the event, including the Kuwait Quarter Mile Club.
The organizing committee earlier held a press conference launching the event delivered by the Kuwait Quarter Mile Club President Sheikh Ali Fawaz Al-Sabah, Head of the Supreme Organizing Committee Sheikh Athbi Nayef Al-Sabah and Kuwait Rally champion Saleh bin Eidan.
