VEINNA, March 7 (KUNA) -- Kuwait reaffirmed here on Friday that it is the right of all countries to produce, develop and use peaceful nuclear energy in line with the Non-Proliferation Treaty (NBT).
Third Secretary at the Kuwaiti Embassy in Austria and Permanent Delegate at International Organizations in Vienna Yaseen Al-Majid addressed an International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) Board of Governors meeting on the agreement of safeguards by saying that Kuwait believes in diplomacy and dialogue as the only way to bring divergent views closer and to settle outstanding issues pertinent to Iran's controversial nuclear program.
He reminded that his country had welcomed practical arrangements reached between the IAEA and Iran on November 11, 2013, together with the agreement reached by both sides on February 9, 2014.
Kuwait looks forward to maintaining cooperation between the IAEA and Iran in order to settle relevant unresolved matters, thus ensuring a peaceful Iranian nuclear program, he pointed out.
The Kuwaiti ambassador went on to say that the State of Kuwait is closely monitoring the positive development of the 5+1-Iran deal reached in November 2013, and welcomes the outcomes of recent bilateral negotiations in Vienna. (end) amg.mt KUNA 071636 Mar 14NNNN
