Palestinian leader meets EP chief

RAMALLAH, Feb 10 (KUNA) -- Palestinian leader Mahmoud Abbas met here on Monday visiting President of the European Parliament (EP) Martin Schulz on the Middle East peace process.
During the meeting, Schulz reiterated European support for the peace process which is based on the two-state solution.
He said Europe backs US efforts to make progress in Palestinian-Israeli peace negotiations, calling for seizing the current chance to achieve peace in the region.
On his part, the Palestinian leader reaffirmed insistence on just and comprehensive peace in line with international legitimacy resolutions, including a Palestinian state based on the pre-June 1967 border with Jerusalem as its capital.
He commended Europe's positions and continuing help to the Palestinian people, stressing the significant role by the European Union (EU) in supporting the Middle East peace process. (end) nq.mt KUNA 101701 Feb 14NNNN
