NEW DELHI, Dec 7 (KUNA) -- At least six school students and their driver
were killed when the bus they were travelling collided with another vehicle in
India's eastern state of Maharashtra, police said.
Police said the incident happened at Solapur-Dhule highway near famous
Nagoba Temple of Maharashtra when a bus carrying school students was
negotiating a blind curve, but while doing so it rammed into the tourist bus
coming from the opposite direction.
So far six students and the driver of the bus have died due to the
accident, the police said, adding, ten school students were injured, six of
them are in critical condition.
The age group of the students is said to between 13 to 16 years.
Senior police and administrative officials have reached the spot to take
stock of the situation.
Earlier at least 42 people died after the luxury bus they were travelling
in caught fire in the southern state of Andhra Pradesh.
According to the government's National Crime Records Bureau, more than 130,
000 people died in road accidents in India in 2011. The poor driving is being
blamed for bulk of the accidents happing in Kashmir. (end)
