Issues between Iraq, Kuwait solved by commitment - Iraqi FM

KUWAIT, Nov 18 (KUNA) -- All of Iraq's outstanding issues with Kuwait have been resolved as result of the commitment of both and it will carry out all of its commitments in 2015, Foreign Minister Hoshyar Zebari said on Monday.
This has been achieved through cooperation, mutual trust and good intentions to solve these matters along with resolutions and commitments on Iraq, he told reporters after arriving in Kuwait to attend the Third Africa-Arab Summit.
These commitments include POWs, missing individuals, compensations or borders, he added.
Through joint committees, both sides reached MoUs and agreements that have been presented to the United Nations due to Iraq's commitment to international legitimacy, he said.
An agreement to jointly administer Khor Abdullah waterway has been signed, and this is an important achievement, along with the demarcation of land borders, while Iraq's exit out of Chapter VII of the UN Charter and the shift of the humanitarian issue (POWs, missing individuals and archives) from Chapter VII to Chapter VI are two of the most important steps in cooperation.
"Iraq is serious and has no interest in hiding any missing individuals," he said, adding that his country had presented the UN with the names of 20 military officers who might have information regarding their whereabouts, but whom have left Iraq.
Iraqi authorities also handed out leaflets asking about the whereabouts of a Picasso painting owned by the Amiri Diwan, he added.
The neighbouring ports of Al-Fao and Mubarak Al-Kabir complete each other, and an agreement on this aspect has stressed that Mubarak Port should not hurt the interests of Iraq, he said. (pickup previous) kt.sd KUNA 190058 Nov 13NNNN
