KUWAIT, Oct 21 (KUNA) -- Kuwait Arts Association said Monday it would host
an international conference on contemporary art on October 27-31 with the main
theme about the development of the new generation with a contemporary vision.
The conference will call for the establishment of a union of Arab formative
artists "to revive spirit in the contemporary Arab arts," Association
president Abdurrasoul Salman said at a news conference.
He said the international conference on contemporary art would be held
under auspices of Parliament Speaker Marzouq Al-Ghanim, and would host around
30 artists and critics from Arab and European countries, as well as host
country Kuwait.
The call to establish the Arab formative artists union, added Salman, aimed
at encouraging research, criticism, translation and publication to ultimately
contribute to cultural dialogue and partnership.
Salman said the contemporary art continued to flourish through exhibitions
but falling short of forming specific artistic movements. (end)
