MOSCOW, Sept 2 (KUNA) -- Russia has dispatched an espionage ship to the
Mediterranean, amid forecast US-led military action against Syrian regime of
Bashar Al-Assad.
Interfax news agency reported on Monday the SSV-201 intelligence ship
Priazovye sailed in the direction of the Mediterranean to cruise off the
Syrian coast.
The news agency quoted military sources as saying dispatch of the ship to
the waters off Syria was aimed at "protecting Russian national interests."
Russia has reportedly a number of warships and gunboats cruising off the
Syrian shores. Moscow, a main arms supplier to the Syrian regime since years
ago, maintains bases in the coastal northern Syrian regions. (end)
