14 Iraqis killed in car bombs in Iraq

BAGHDAD, Aug 25 (KUNA) -- Fourteen Iraqis were killed and 30 others injured in two car bombs' blasts in Balad district south of Tikrit city on Sunday.
A booby-trapped car blew up at a cross-road in the district, targeting a courthouse, killing six Iraqis and wounding 14 others, including a judge, a security source told KUNA.
It damaged the courthouse and three cars. Medics in ambulances rushed to the scene and took the victims to a nearby hospital.
Another car bomb blast took place at a popular market in the same area, killing eight civilians, including three women and wounding 16 others -- among them a policeman.
Police squads blocked main streets in the district in an attempt to foil other possible bombing attacks.
Such incidents often take place in Balad district, located 85 kilometers north of Baghdad and inhabited by 250,000 people. (end) mhg.ss KUNA 251849 Aug 13NNNN
