KUWAIT, Aug 22 (KUNA) -- National Assembly Speaker Marzoug al-Ghanem has
condemned the regretful ugly genocide that occurred in East Ghota town on
Damascus' outskirts taking 1,360 lives.
The speaker, in a statement on Thursday, denounced in strong terms this
ugly crime that targeted innocent children and women, calling on the United
Nations to intervene and stop such massacres, carried out by the Syrian regime.
He also called for holding international investigations into circumstances
of the deadly attack, noting current presence of international experts tasked
with examining usage of chemicals agents in the ongoing conflict in the
country.
Speaker Al-Ghanem urged the international community to intervene in Syria
and halt the ongoing blood-shedding, fighting and compelling the regime allow
relief teams to aid those in need for help. "This is the least that must be
offered to the brotherly Syrian people who have been suffering from this
tragedy on daily basis," he stated. (end)
