CAIRO, Aug 20 (KUNA) -- Egyptian Foreign Minister Nabil Fahmy questioned
Tuesday the silence of the European Union in face of the terrorist acts
carried out against Egyptian people and state institutions.
During a meeting the European Union Ambassador to Egypt James Moran, Fahmy
said that there are terrorist acts committed against people, churches, places
of worship, public institutions, cultural centers and hospitals since the
ouster of president Mohamed Morsi.
The Egyptian top diplomat strongly criticized the EU's failure to condemn
such acts "which amount to an absolute deviation from peacefulness."
He added that this unjustified silence encourages terrorist groups to
proceed with their acts of violence and murder.
The Minister stated that it is the responsibility of any government that
respects its people to ensure security and public order are maintained within
the framework of the law.
He stressed Egypt's commitment to implementing the roadmap in the shortest
time possible as well as putting an end to violent acts, in order to build a
genuine modern democracy. (end)
