Al-Barjas underlines need for detailed statistics on world refugees

KUWAIT, June 20 (KUNA) -- The Chairman of Kuwait Red Crescent Society (KRCS) Barjas Al-Barjas underlined the need for detailed studies and statistics on the conditions and the number of world refugees as per their host countries.
Al-Barjas said in a speech on the occasion of the World Refugee Day on Thursday that the number of refugees in the world is increasing continuously due to disasters and escalating crises. He noted that there is a need to shed light on the issue of refugees' return to their homelands.
He also urged organizations and authorities to quickly establish a special body to spread awareness among the refugees. Al-Barjas lauded the role of international organizations, particularly the International Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies, in dealing with this issue and the continued cooperation between the KRCS and the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees in Kuwait.
He explained that the role of international organizations is to improve the situation of refugees, provide aid, make sure that their human rights are respected. He added that human history is full of lessons and lessons learned in this matter.
Al-Barjas stressed that the Kuwaiti Red Crescent Society will continue providing humanitarian assistance to all refugees and displaced persons around the world.
