Iraqi lawmakers laud outcomes of Kuwaiti PM''s visit

BAGHDAD, June 14 (KUNA) -- A number of prominent Iraqi parliamentary figures praised here on Friday the significant outcomes of visit made by HH Kuwaiti Prime Minister Sheikh Jaber Al-Mubarak Al-Hamad Al-Sabah to the Iraqi capital, asserting that it had reflected the two sides' desire to turn the page, and open a wider gate for real cooperation.
In separate statements to KUNA, the Iraqi figures stressed importance the results of His Highness the Premier's visit, that were crowned by signing of six agreements in diplomacy, transportation, education, economy, and culture.
The Kuwaiti Premier's visit to Iraq carried real guarantees for the people of both countries as the Iraqi-Kuwaiti agreement reflected the two countries' desire to help Iraq exit the provisions of Chapter VII, MP Abdul Salam Al-Maliki said, affirming that Kuwait and Iraq are able to start a new stage of bilateral relations as Iraq's economic strength and political stability come from the strength of Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC).
Al-Maliki stressed importance of the fruitful outcomes reached by the two sides, which would rid the consequences that affected Iraq as a result of its invasion to Kuwait in 1990, affirming that record success of Sheikh Jaber Al-Mubarak's visit to his country is a success to diplomats of both countries.
For his part, MP Khalid Al-Asadi stressed importance of the Kuwaiti Premier's visit to Baghdad as an opportunity to discuss issues of joint interest, improve bilateral relations, and help Iraq transfer to Chapter VI, affirming Iraqi lawmakers' keenness on developing bilateral parliamentary relations through exchanging visits and expertise.
Furthermore, Kurdish MP Mahmoud Othman extended his appreciation for the efforts carried out by both countries' governments to help exit Iraq the provisions of Chapter VII, expressing his hope at the same time for the construction of best bilateral relations, based on mutual trust and cooperation in various fields, to which serves the interests of Kuwaiti and Iraqi people.
Moreover, Kurdish MP Viand Dakhil described Sheikh Jaber Al-Mubarak's visit to Iraq as "new" step towards discussing bilateral relations and resolve disputed issues between the two countries. She indicated that the visit came as an update to series of previous visits that focused on starting bilateral economic relations, adding that the agreements that had been signed and agreed upon by the two sides are considered an important step towards reviving mutual trust between Kuwait and Iraq.
Also, MP Hamid Al-Mualla asserted that the Kuwaiti PM's visit came at an appropriate time to resolve the pending issues such as the Kuwaiti missing POWs file, borders and marine navigation, and support Iraq exit the provisions of Chapter VII, adding that the visit will also play a pivotal role in strengthen bilateral economic, investment, and media relations.
In addition, MP Haider Al-Mulla indicated one of the most important moves of that could be invested from Sheikh Jaber Al-Mubarak's visit to his country is ending the Iraqi debts file resulted from its invasion of Kuwait in 1990, describing the Iraqi regime's invasion to Kuwait as "shameless" and that both countries should now turn the page to better relations based on the good neighboring principle.
