(With MIL-LEBANON-HEZBOLLAH-DRONE) BEIRUT, April 25 (KUNA) -- The UN Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL) denied Thursday that the unmanned aircraft, downed by the Israeli Air Force earlier today, flew over the southern Lebanese territories under UNIFIL jurisdiction.
"We are verifying the information on areal activities but the UNIFIL cannot so far confirm that the drone flew over its operations area," Andrea Tenenti, the spokesman for UNIFIL, told reporters.
The range of the UNIFIL surveillance covers limited areas of the airspace over the territories to the south of the Litani River in south Lebanon, he noted. Tenenti was commenting on reports that the Israeli Air Force intercepted and downed the drone shortly after it entered the Israeli airspace a few miles off Haifa city.
