Survey: Young Belgian Muslims feel discriminated against

BRUSSELS, April 20 (KUNA) - A survey published by a Belgian newspaper today found that many young Muslims in Belgium don't feel accepted by the Belgian society. The survey of several hundred young Muslims was carried out by the daily 'Gazet van Antwerpen' in the northern Flemish region and did not cover the whole of Belgium.
Although 93% of those questioned are Belgian nationals, only 30% of the Muslim youngsters consider themselves to be Belgian.
The feeling that they are discriminated against is as prevalent among the young Muslims now as it was in 2005 when the paper carried out a similar survey.
Around 30% of those surveyed said that they had suffered discrimination at school and one in five said that they had been discriminated against at work. (end) nk.ajs KUNA 201724 Apr 13NNNN
