KUWAIT, April 10 (KUNA) -- Head of the Political and Parliamentary Affairs Committee in the Arab Inter-Parliamentary Union MP Dr. Ali Al-Omair called upon nations of the "Arab Spring" to practice democracy.
Al-Omair's statements to Kuwait News Agency (KUNA) came on the sidelines of the political and parliamentary affairs committee meetings, held during the third session of the 19th Arab Inter-Parliamentary Union Conference.
Al-Omair said, "Arab Spring nations are free from dictatorship and should practice democracy to the full, to avoid chaos which reflects negatively on civilian life".
He added, post-change in the Arab mechanisms imposed itself on the political committee in addition to others, including the Palestinian cause, the situation in Sudan, Syria, Iraq, Lebanon and the UAE Islands occupied by Iran.
Al-Omair called for curbing the people's uprisings, to avoid its negative outcome especially after the toppling of several unwanted regimes in Arab nations.
He said, the committee prepared a statement based on recommendations, to be presented to the 19th AIPU conference, although discussions continue on the ongoing Arab people's movement.
On Syria, he said "the situation is very critical, and many neighboring countries suffer the continuous influx of Syrian refugees, amid increasing humanitarian needs." (end) kt.ss.asa KUNA 101325 Apr 13NNNN
