Lebanese army bombs Israeli cluster bombs

BEIRUT, April 8 (KUNA) -- The Lebanese army Monday bombed cluster bombs left by the Israeli army forces during their offensive against Lebanon in 2006.
An army unit detonated six cluster bombs in southern Lebanon, the army said in a statement.
The UN said that Israel dropped more than a million bombs on southern Lebanon between July 12 and August 14 of 2006, and that 40 percent of them did not explode.
The Israeli cluster bombs killed more than 400 people, one-third of them below 18 years old.
Lebanon signed a cluster bomb ban agreement in 2010, which means the country has to remove all cluster bombs in 10 years. (end) ayb.bs KUNA 082107 Apr 13NNNN
