CAIRO, March 22 (KUNA) -- At least 40 people were injured in clashes
between supporters and opponents of the Muslim Brotherhood at the latter's
headquarters in Cairo on Friday, according to medics.
All those wounded people, including former presidential candidate Khaled
Ali, were taken to several hospitals in Cairo for medical treatment, the
Health Ministry said in news remarks.
Clashes are still taking place between both sides, with the number of
wounded people increasing. But, no deaths have been reported.
State TV showed large plumes of black smoke rising from the surrounding
streets, which it said came from buses set on fire. The buses belonged to the
Brotherhood.
Earlier on Thursday, the Muslim Brotherhood, of which President Mohammad
Morsi is a leading member, had vowed to defend the building. (pickup previous)
