Van Rompuy calls on EU leaders to remain fully mobilised to overcome crisis

BRUSSELS, March 13 (KUNA) -- Once again the economic situations in Europe will be the focus of the summit of the leaders 27-member European Union during their 2-day meeting in Brussels which beings tomorrow, Thursday.
"Our Spring European Council (EU summit) is the traditional moment to look carefully at the economic situation and outlook in order to set policy orientations," President of the EU, Herman Van Rompuy said in his invitation letter to the EU leaders.
"We must continue to pursue our efforts to maintain stability, translate all decisions taken to promote growth and competitiveness into concrete action and results, and give absolute priority to supporting youth employment," he stressed. After the dinner on Thursday , a summit meeting of the 17-member euro zone will take place to take stock of the economic situation in the euro area.
On Friday, British Prime Minister David Cameron will update the EU leaders on the preparations for the G8 summit in June, before they turn their attention to the EU's relations with Russia, added the letter. (end) nk.asa KUNA 131343 Mar 13NNNN
