Firemen subdue scrapyard fire at Kuwait''s Abdullah Port

KUWAIT, Jan 6 (KUNA) -- Kuwait Fire Service Directorate (KFSD) said its
firefighters managed to control a huge fire that broke out at a scrapyard at
Abdullah Port in the small hours of Sunday.
No casualties resulted from the accident, KFSD said in a press release this
evening.
Fire engines from six departments rushed to the scene upon receiving
notification of the fire; these include the departments of Abdullah Port,
Al-Shu'aiba Industrial Area, Mubarak Al-Kabeer, Sabhan, and Al-Isnad (the
backup center).
The fire destroyed flammable objects on an area of 3,000 sq m. at a tire
scrap with a total area of 5,000 sq m., the statement noted.
KFSD acting deputy director general for firefighting and human development
affairs Col. Waleed Al-Ansari appreciated the efforts of personnel from the
National Guard, Kuwait Municipality, Kuwait Oil Company the Ministry of
Interior and the medical emergency department who joined the battle against
the fire.
The concerted efforts of these departments gave a great encouragement to
the KFSD firemen and helped bring the fire under control as soon as possible,
