Addressing the forum, Secretary-General of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) Abdulatif Al-Zayani hailed the forum's topic of sustainable development as a main goal for the GCC members and China to achieve in order to prop up human development.
He appreciated China's relentless support for Arab just issues, primarily the Palestinian cause, as well as its efforts for supporting development in many world countries.
But, Al-Zayani called on the Chinese government to rethink about its position on the current Syrian crisis.
Over the last few years, the GCC member states have made remarkable progress in various development areas, placing them atop the list of world countries in terms of human development rates, he said.
The GCC chief also hailed China's political and economic development, saying this Asian country has managed to pick up over 150 million citizens from the poverty line, to broaden the scope of middle-class families and to push technological and knowledge development.
