Arab FMs meet to condemn Israel''s attacks on Gaza

CAIRO, Nov 17 (KUNA) -- Arab foreign ministers will meet on Saturday to condemn Israel's continued onslaught on Gaza as barbaric, runs counter to international humanitarian law and inflames the situation in the region.
According to a source from the Arab League, which will be hosting the ministers in an extra-ordinary meeting, the current conflict has so far led to the death and injury of hundreds.
Arab ministers will hold Israel wholly responsible for the current escalation and the damage affecting Palestinians as a result of "this unjust aggression." The Arab League council of ministers will also call on Israel to lift its imposed blockade on Gaza.
To do this, the ministers will be drafting a resolution, which also calls for the formation of a delegation, headed by Arab League Secretary General Nabil Al-Araby and including Arab ministers, that will be visiting Gaza in support of the Palestinian people and to assess the damage that has so far been inflicted in order to pave way for logistical support to usher in much-needed humanitarian and medical supplies and to hospitalize those injured.
The draft resolution will additionally call for "necessary and essential" reconciliation among contentious Palestinian factions in order to face this aggression and support of the Palestinian leadership in its bid for observer status at the UN General Assembly.
It will also support Egyptian efforts aimed at brokering a long-term ceasefire between Israel and the Palestinians, with international assurances that can safeguard security and stability in the region. (end) kt.sd KUNA 171554 Nov 12NNNN
