KUWAIT, Oct 16 (KUNA) -- Private Universities Council announced on Tuesday new academic institutions, Kuwait Technical College and American University of Medical Sciences, will start next year receiving students, after completing construction of their buildings in Al-Ahmadi Governorate.
The acting secretary-general of the Secretariat Council, Dr. Farida Al-Ali, said in a statement to Kuwait News Agency (KUNA), that in addition to the new colleges, studies are planned to begin at the four other new educational institutions, during the coming three years. Two of these new colleges will be located in Al-Jahra, the third in Doha and fourth in Al-Sulaibia.
She indicated that the council secretariat-general is examining architectural designs of more educational establishments, according to specific standards, pending finalization of the needed bureaucratic procedures, ahead of their launch.
Al-Ali confirmed that the council made a decision that studies should start at the permanent sites for educational facilities that have been allocated. She ALSO praised cooperation of the Municipal Council and the General Organization for Housing Welfare in the allocation of sites for private universities and colleges in all provinces of the State of Kuwait.
She said the total universities and colleges licensed in Kuwait are 17 universities and private colleges, and about 11,000 students graduated from them. They are Gulf University for Science and Technology, the American University of Kuwait, American University of Middle East AUM, Kuwait International Law School, Australian College, American College of Middle east ACM, Box Hill College Kuwait and Kuwait-Maastricht Business School.
