TUNIS, Oct 6 (KUNA) -- At least 41 people were injured in clashes between
policemen in protesters in Djerba Island in southeast Tunisia.
The violent clashes took place when policemen tried to disperse protesters
by force, eyewitnesses were quoted by the local radio as saying.
The disgruntled protesters consequently burnt tires and threw stones at
security forces, pushing the latter to use tear-gas to disperse them, they
added.
They also set eight police cars ablaze, attacked police stations and tried
to storm a ruling Ennahada Party office in Djerba Island in southeast Tunisia.
