TEHRAN, Sept 24 (KUNA) -- Two goals from Nawaf Al-Marzoug and another by
Naji Al-Ajmi in the second minute of added time secured a dramatic 4-3 win
over Laos in the AFC U-16 Championships in Tehran.
With two games played so far, Kuwait sits on the top of Group A with four
points and awaits the result of the other group match between host nation,
Iran (three points) and Yemen (one point).
After Kuwait was trailing 3-2 in the first half after goals from Al-Marzoug
and an own goal, the young Kuwaiti came back at the stroke of the end of the
second half for a brace and the equalizer, with his compatriot Al-Ajmi scoring
the winner only minutes later in a dramatic twist of events.
The result lifted the spirits of the team which needed a win to secure any
hopes of progression to the knockout stages ahead of their tough clash with
Iran, after a disappointing 1-1 draw with Yemen.
Kuwait plays host nation Iran on Wednesday in what is expected to be a
tightly contested affair. (end)
